In-vehicle equipment and workplace storage supplier Bott has attained 15% savings on its monthly fuel costs and a huge reduction in customer response times since adapting Masternaut’s tracking telematics system last October.
The company’s fleet of commercial, HGV, service and delivery vehicles were all outfitted with a telematics system to enable vehicle tracking and speedier deliveries. The fleet’s vehicles, particularly its articulated delivery lorries, make multiple calls across the UK each day, and Masternaut’s web-based vehicle tracking systems allows managers a real time view of the location and speed of each. Better tracking has decreased time in transit, parred the company’s fuel costs, and enabled them to give customers accurate delivery windows.
“”Having installed Masternaut’s technology across our fleet, we’ve been able to significantly cut down on the amount of time spent in transit, meaning our response times are quicker than ever,” Chris Sweeney, logistics manager at Bott, said.
Given the range of locations we cover across the UK – and beyond – our drivers spend considerable amounts of time on the roads,” he added. “Anything which reduces this is hugely beneficial not only to our own business but, more importantly, to our customers.”
With Masternaut’s system, fleet managers based at headquarters are able to respond instantly to information about road delays and incoming customer requests and delay that information to drivers and waiting customers. The tracking system can easily identify the closest vehicle to a location, optimizing the response of service and delivery drivers. Real-time traffic updates allow drivers and managers to modify routes, while accurate journey histories and driver monitoring allow companies to review, and possibly correct, driver performance.
The system also records out of hours or unauthorised vehicle use. User-tailored reports are then delivered to manger’s inboxes. This comprehensive system has enabled businesses with large fleets and country-spanning operations to cut fuel costs, mileage, and emissions; reduce spend on overtime hours; boost productivity and workforce utilisation; and increase customer satisfaction with quicker response times and improved communication about arrival times.
“For businesses looking to achieve that vital competitive edge, every minute –and indeed every penny–counts,” Martin Hiscox, CEO and chairman of Masternaut, said. “Bott, which coordinates fleets from one end of the UK to the other, is a fantastic example of how companies can be using telematics to save both time and money.”
Bott is also reselling telematics systems to its own customers as part of its van conversions arm. “Through delivering the technology into our customers’ own vehicles, they’re experiencing the benefits first-hand too,” Sweeney added. “It’s a win-win.”
