As one of the world’s leading advancers of telematics technology, the UK is not only pushing the industry forward on its shores, but overseas too. To help continue that trend, British firm Floow is now expanding its operations into Italy, taking advantage of the recent legislation change that means all new vehicles produced in the country are fitted with tracking and sensor technology.
Floow is already handling all of the telematics services for insurers like AIG, Accenture, Green Flag and Direct Line, but it looks likely to expand that to Italian insurers too, as well as car manufacturers. To help make the transition as smooth as possible, Floow has hired on insurance expert and charity worker, Elisabetta Pizzini to take charge of the new Italian offices.
“Elizabetta has brought a wealth of experience of the insurance industry across Europe to the team, and we are delighted to have her on-board,” said Aldo Monteforte, CEO and co-founder of The Floow.
“As a business we have a very clear international strategy, and are already well aligned with a number of European based insurers who are interested in adopting telematics and data analysis as part of their own development initiatives.”
Pizzini also released a statement, saying how excited she was to join the team at Floow and that she admired the way the business used “scientific know how” to analyse data and make the roads safer for everyone.
“I’m looking forward to working with The Floow to support their growth and deliver our mission to make vehicles safer and cheaper for all,” she said.
Pizzini brings to the table her previous experience as EMEA & South Asia Regional Director at GE Capital, where she oversaw insurance profits across all of the company’s territories. Before that she worked as sales manager and head of sales and marketing at Pascon Spa, giving her a lot of experience helping to grow smaller businesses, especially within Italy. It’s this combination of forward thinking development ideas and insurance know-how that Floow believes will help take its services to the next level.
Floow’s growth has been quite rapid as of late, having only recently announced its partnership with AIG to develop the XLNTdriver app, which offers telematics to users without the need for external hardware – simply using the accelerometer and GPS built in to the customer’s smartphone to send over all of the data needed to rate their driver and thereby adjust their insurance based on it.
